Anger: The Ten Gifts

Run Marcus’s ten reminders before or after anger—not while obeying it.

Use when: anger, resentment, feeling wronged

How the practice works

  1. Name the situation Who or what angered you, and what “how dare they” thought arrived?
  2. Examine each lens Read each reminder slowly. Select the ones you have considered.
  3. Make a choice Which reminder landed?
  4. Record what you notice What would a delicate, direct, non-sarcastic response sound like?
  5. Choose the next action What response will you choose?
“The greatest remedy for anger is delay.”

— Seneca, On Anger 2.29
